Online lending can reduce physical paperwork, but it does not remove the need for identity verification. Preparing the right information helps you understand the application and avoid sharing documents with an unverified app.
Common information you may need
An online personal loan application may request Aadhaar or another accepted identity document, PAN, your mobile number, an active bank account and personal details. Income or employment information may also be required.
- Identity and KYC information
- PAN card
- Mobile number linked to you
- Active bank account in your name
- Income or employment details, where applicable
Why KYC matters
KYC confirms identity, supports responsible credit assessment and helps prevent fraud. A paperless process can still require proper verification; digital does not mean that KYC is skipped.
Keep your documents safe
Requirements vary by lender and applicant. Share documents only through the verified lender’s official app or website. Avoid sending them to unknown numbers, personal email addresses or unverified links.
Before you borrow
- Check the lender or lending partner and its credentials.
- Read the Key Facts Statement and loan agreement.
- Compare APR, applicable charges and total repayment.
- Never share your OTP, PIN or banking password.
- Borrow only what you can comfortably repay.
